About

Dave Mason, D.Ph., Owner – A native of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Dave attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater before moving on to the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center’s School of Pharmacy. After graduating in 1986, he worked for Hospital Discount Pharmacy in Edmond, where he cultivated an interest in compounding and problem-solving. Dave has completed specialized training in bio-identical hormone replcement therapy, clinical nutrition, and various forms of pharmaceutical compounding. In August of 1998, he opened Innovative Pharmacy Solutions, in order to focus on these specialties. Outside of health and nutrition, Dave’s primary forms of relaxation include mowing and maintaining his two-plus acre yard and taking naps in movie theaters. He lives in Edmond with his wife, Kristen, also a pharmacist and a member of the OUHSC School of Pharmacy faculty. They are active in their church and enjoy spending time watching their talented kids perform in sports, fitness, and music theatre competitions. Dave and Kristen are the proud parents of two daughters and two sons, along with a Bichon Frise named Lilly.

Melissa Bolek, Pharm D. – Raised in the Milwaukee area, chances are you’ll know it’s Melissa when she answers the phone just from the accent alone. A graduate of Purdue University School of Pharmacy, Melissa joined IPS as a temporary relief pharmacist back in 2011 when another pharmacist went on maternity leave. After seeing how the patients immediately took to her, we knew we couldn’t let her get away! Melissa lives in Guthrie with her husband, Matt, a professor at OSU, whom she’s been with since shortly before dinosaurs became extinct. Her hobbies include reading, coffee, traveling, fitness, coffee, glamping, laughing, and coffee. One of her biggest regrets in life is not investing in Starbucks in the 90s. She loves winter and competed in The Abominable Snow Race in Geneva, WI in January 2017. During the spring, you can often find her glued to the nearest radar screen, even if the storm system is still over 100 miles away. Matt and Melissa are parents to three very spoiled dogs, Thora, Lilly Bell, and Luna, in addition to P. Kitty, who recently adopted them.

Shannon Friedman, Office/HR Manager– A Norman native who was quite literally Sooner born and bred, Shannon began working at Hospital Discount Pharmacy as a college freshman, running deliveries after class in the afternoons. When Dave opened IPS in 1998, he brought Shannon along as his first sidekick. Upon earning her degree, she decided to stick around and began helping on the administrative side of the business in addition to her technician duties. Eventually, she put away her spatula to focus on managing the office. Shannon is a UCO graduate, a freelance writer, and a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate. Her favorite hobbies include reading, traveling, and cooking. She lives in Oklahoma City with her husband, Eric, a physician. They are avid sports fans and total theatre nerds and love spending time in Eric’s native New York. Their family includes three human daughters, as well as a Corgi mix named Shylo and a Labradane named Roger.

Christie Cowden, Pharmacy Technician – Originally from Perkins, Oklahoma, Christie has lived in the Guthrie area for over 14 years and has worked as a pharmacy technician since 2006. She joined the IPS team in the spring of 2016. She loves working with patients and meeting new people, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, crafts, and knitting, and can name all 50 states in alphabetical order. Christie has been married to Matt for 20 years, and they are the parents of two daughters, one son, and three dogs: Barney, Sully, and Finney. Christie and her husband are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild, a boy due late this spring.

Shelbi Harvick, LPN, Pharmacy Technician – Hailing from Altus, where she graduated from high school a year early, Shelbi is currently working towards the completion of her RN credential at OSU-OKC. She began working at IPS as a clerk during her freshman year of college, and opted to continue working while pursuing her nursing degree. Her interests include OSU Cowboy sports, documentaries, history, hiking, and fishing. In addition to her parents back home, her family includes a sister, two brothers, her longtime boyfriend Jake, and two cats, Chevy and Mama Kitty.

Jes Coffey, Pharmacy Technician – Jes is a native of Cushing, OK. She attended OSU in Stillwater before earning a Massage Therapy Certification from Meridian Technology Center. She joined us on a part-time basis in 2015, while she maintains a full-time job in the bar and restaurant industry by night. Jes enjoys reading, writing, photography, grunge music, motorcycles, tattoos, comfy pants, random acts of kindness, puns and cheesy Dad jokes (which Dave continuously provides), thunderstorms, classic cars (specifically Mustangs), low-budget horror movies, and vodka (because as Betty White once said, vodka is kind of a hobby, and you just DON’T question Betty White). She reads Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea every year and names Garfield the cat as her favorite cartoon character, because she really connects with his love for strong coffee and frequent pining for lasagna. Jes is married to Seth, and they live in Cashion with their two fur kids—a yellow lab named Sid and a wolf named Nashoba—who take up 1000% of her free time.

Laurie Budig, Pharmacy Clerk – Originally from Billings, Montana, Laurie already had over two decades of pharmacy experience under her belt when she joined the staff of IPS in the fall of 2016. In addition, Laurie is certified as an Administrative Medical Assistant and also in Fitness and Nutirition as a Personal Trainer. Her hobbies include weight training, interior decorating, and floral arranging. She and her husband, Robert, are the parents of two grown sons and three overweight, but very happy French bulldogs.

Shelley Conaway, Pharmacy Clerk – Shelley grew up right here in the Oklahoma City area, and attended UCO “many millenimoons ago,” but has been brightening days at our front counter since 2014! The always-smiling Shelley loves Oklahoma, cloudy days, and being barefoot. She loves to pray for you, and there’s no need to ask—but you can! She also enjoys reading cookbooks, nonfiction, and neuropsychology, and likes to make lotins, salves and soaps in her free time. She and her husband live in Edmond and are the parents of two grown daughters.
